Swanson Family Foundation Teen Learning Center, in honor of Lew Costley
This 1,300 square-foot education and activity center will be designed specifically to serve the interests, and support the educational endeavors, of teens and young adults.
The Center will cater to this age group’s talent for multitasking and propensity for collaborative learning by providing specifically-designed furniture and spaces that facilitate the shared use of resources.
The Center will be supported by state-of-the-art, flat-panel displays, dual-sound systems for voice and music, and personal computers available for either individual or group access. A special, and probably essential, feature of this Center will be its close proximity to the snack bar.
The architectural design of this area will be inviting and casual, mimicking the student commons areas often found in post-high-school settings, leading teens and young adults to discover and benefit from the educational mission of the Library.
